New residential/retail mixed use development in Barnes South London

 

The development comprises a ground floor of retail space with car stackers built–in to provide parking for the 9 residential flats above.

 

The structure is founded on concrete pad footings into the gravel soil below. These in turn support a suspended concrete ground floor slab capable of withstanding the retail loading specification.

 

Due to the column free requirement for the retail space a concrete transfer structure was used at first floor to carry the loads from the light weight steel frame of the residential accommodation down through to the concrete footings. The roof space was formed with timber joists on steel beams.
