John Lyon School

John Lyon School, Harrow

Client: John Lyon School
Architect: Salmon Speed
This design and build project with Miller construction includes a 25m pool, sports hall indoor cricket school, fitness centre and associated facilities.

The building is located immediately adjacent to the existing main school block on a steeply sloping site. By clever arrangement of the facilities the winning design adopted by the Miller team obviated the need for expensive temporary works.

5-10 Bolton Street

5–10 Bolton Street, London

Client: Greycoat Estates
Architect: Rolfe Judd
This office development in Mayfair for Greycoat estates involved the demolition of existing buildings, retention of existing façade and construction of a new 5 storey steel frames structure plus basement on a very restricted site.
Before demolition, the temporary façade support structure was erected over the pavement, and remained in place until the facade was fully tied to the new structure behind.

Low floor to floor heights were dictated by the windows in the retained faced. To maximise the clear ceiling heights, heavy column section were used for floor beams and located within the depth of the pre–cast floor to provide a virtually flat soffit of minimum construction depth.

Client: Wates Retirement Homes
Architect: Wates Retirement Homes
