Dunraven School Sports Hall

As part of the initial works for the Lambeth BSF programme, the sports hall at Dunraven school was required to be constructed to a very tight budget, but needed also to have a high degree of architectural presence on the site.

Steel shipping containers proved to be the perfect solution, with the benefits of off site fabrication and a short construction programme. Metsec trusses span the roof between the 3 storey container structure to the perimeter. The foundation solution adopted was screw piles due to the speed of installation to take the loading from the lightweight structure above.

The building won the BCIA Small Building Award for 2009
